Who was he?

Slave- Toussaint L'ouverture spent most of his life as a slave and a manager of slaves on the Bréda Plantation on the fertile Northern Plain of Saint Domingue (Haiti).
General/ Leader of the Haitian Revolution- As the leader of the only successful slave revolution in recorded history, and the founder of the only independent black state in the Western Hemisphere ever to be created by former slaves.
